ABU Steamrolls LASU in Opening Match
In the first match of the day, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) delivered a decisive performance against Lagos State University (LASU), winning comfortably with a final score of 52–27.
ABU’s defense was the star of the show, completely stifling LASU’s offense and they were left with little room to operate. Their creative ball movement, solid execution on the offense, and impressive shooting accuracy gave them a strong start to their NUGA campaign, setting an early standard for the tournament.
BUK Outclasses IBB in One-Sided Affair
The dominance continued into the second fixture, where Bayero University Kano (BUK) demonstrated why they are a team to watch, overpowering Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBB) with a final score of 55–28.
BUK’s balanced attack saw them build a substantial lead early on, which they maintained throughout the game. IBB struggled to keep up with BUK’s pace and offensive efficiency, ultimately falling short by a significant margin.
NSUK Takes Decisive Win Over ABUAD
Another significant result saw Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) secure a decisive victory against Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), winning 39-17. NSUK’s defensive discipline and efficient scoring performance allowed them to control the game from start to finish, limiting ABUAD’s offensive opportunities throughout the matchup.
These results underscore the competitive intensity of the female basketball tournament, as both ABU, BUK and NSUK send a clear message to their rivals that they are serious contenders for the coveted gold medal.
