CAF Women’s Champions League 2025: JKT Queens Hold Gaborone United in Dramatic Goalless Draw

Group B's JKT Queens of Tanzania and Gaborone United of Botswana battled to a tense 0–0 draw on Matchday 1 of the CAF Women’s Champions League 2025.

The story of the match was unquestionably Najiata Abass Idrisa, the JKT Queens goalkeeper who produced two heroic penalty saves in the 88th minute.
After conceding a late penalty, Idrisa denied Kesegofetse Mochawe with a full-stretch dive. The referee ordered a retake for encroachment, but Idrisa repeated the feat, stopping Keitumetse Dithebe’s second attempt to preserve the point.

JKT Queens showed flashes of their continental experience, but Gaborone United, making their tournament debut, held firm defensively and nearly snatched victory late on.

With the draw:

  • Gaborone United now prepare for a decisive clash with TP Mazembe on Tuesday.

  • JKT Queens will face ASEC Mimosas on Wednesday.

The result keeps Group B wide open—and Idrisa’s performance already one of the early highlights of the tournament.
