CAFWCL 2025: Matchday 1 Opens With Drama in Group A
Matchday 1 of the CAF Women’s Champions League 2025 delivered a strong start in Group A, with both fixtures showcasing tension, resilience, and early standout performers.
FC Masar and ASFAR kicked off the group with a tight contest that ended in a draw. Neither side could find the winner, but the match set the tone for a competitive group stage.
The second game brought the day’s major storyline: USFAS Bamako’s comeback victory. After going behind to Ana María’s first-half strike, USFAS turned the game around through a composed penalty from Maïmouna Traoré and a late winner from Awa Diarra—assisted by debutant Kadidiatou Diabaté.
Diabaté’s impressive display earned her the Woman of the Match award, making her one of the standout names of Matchday 1.
With USFAS taking the first three points and the other fixture ending in a draw, Group A remains wide open as Matchday 1 concludes.
