Super Falcons star Chiamaka Nnadozie has made history as the only African goalkeeper shortlisted for the 2025 Kopa Trophy — the award for the best goalkeeper in women's football.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a remarkable season with Paris FC, leading the club to their first-ever Coupe de France title with a standout performance in the final. She also kept 17 clean sheets in 31 games, guided the team to the league playoffs, and secured qualification for next season's UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Her brilliance extended to the international stage. At the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Nnadozie was a wall in goal, recording four clean sheets in six matches as the Super Falcons claimed their 10th WAFCON crown. She capped off the tournament by winning the Golden Glove award.

It was a year of milestones — and her Kopa Trophy nomination at the Ballon d'Or ceremony was the icing on the cake.
Speaking about the recognition, Nnadozie said it was both a personal triumph and a source of motivation for other African goalkeepers.
"This nomination means a lot to me and my family. It shows that all the hard work, consistency, and prayers are paying off,”she said.
“It’s a morale booster, telling me to keep going. Whatever you are doing, the world is watching. We have many talented goalkeepers in Africa, and I want to encourage all of us to keep working hard.”
“Just keep doing what you are doing, and one day, the sky will be your starting point.”
Fresh off her achievements, Nnadozie has signed with Brighton Women, where she will compete in the Women’s Super League in the 2025/26 season.
