The media crew of allinewsnigeria arrived in Offa today for the Nigerian Polytechnic Games and after a warm welcome by the institution, media journalist Komolafe Tolulope Joshua sat in a Media Chat with the distinguished Rector of the great polytechnic, Dr. Kamoru Kadiri.

Here are the key points from their discussion:

1. Rector Kadiri Sets the Tone for NIPOGA 2025: “Second to None”

The 22nd Nigeria Polytechnic Games is more than just a competition for the Federal Polytechnic, Offa — it’s a landmark moment. In a warm media chat with AlliNewsNigeria, the institution’s Rector, Dr. Kamoru Kadiri, welcomed our crew and assured us that this edition of NIPOGA will be “second to none,” whether at the University or Polytechnic level.

Dr. Kadiri, who was appointed in 2023 as the Offa Polytechnic’s fifth substantive rector, spoke with confidence about the school’s readiness. He also urged the media team to feel at home and share feedback freely. The energy on campus already speaks volumes and the mood in the institution only shows one thing: Offa is ready.

2. For the First Time Ever, Northern Polytechnics Join NIPOGA

This year’s NIPOGA Games is making history even before the opening day. For the first time since its creation, polytechnics from Northern Nigeria will compete in the epoch NIPOGA games. He believes this edition of the NIPOGA games is benefiting from the prized position of the institution, as the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, is centrally located.

He also praised the peaceful nature of Offa town, calling it safe, secure, and welcoming. With no tolls or hidden barriers, teams and fans alike can expect a smooth experience, but that's not all this edition of the NIPOGA games is setting records about. According to him, this is the largest NIPOGA games yet in terms of attendance and the largest traffic on campus since Offa poly was established in 1992.

This growth has puzzled even the national officials and caused them to ask the Rector in sincere curiosity what he's done differently from previous hosts to pull this off. In response to our query on the subject as well, Dr. Kadiri called it a major moment of unity but humbly refused to take any credit, giving all plaudits to Almighty God as the devout believer that he is.

3. “It Was Moribund” — How Rector Kadiri Brought Sports Back to Life in Offa Poly

"We were ready for these games and we invested heavily."

In the words of Dr. Kadiri, the state of some sporting facilities before his administration was simply “moribund,” but his administration has flipped the script. Quoting Dr. Kadiri, ahead of NIPOGA 2025, the school invested massively in upgrades. Its football pitch now attracts clubs from across the region.

Planning for NIPOGA began early — Offa Poly even formed its Local Organizing Committee before winning the hosting bid. They also tapped into experience with training visits to Kwara Poly and Owo, who were previous hosts, plus Dr. Kadiri's initiative to beckon support from top sports officials like the retired Head of Coaches in the federation, whom he gave an advisory role. Offa didn’t just prepare — it studied, built, and set a new pace.

4. Rector to Alumni: “We’re Growing — Stand With Us”

As the media chat rounded up, the Rector had a clear message for the Offa Polytechnic Alumni Association. He said to stay close and stay proud. Dr. Kadiri listed key developments like a new water factory, a bakery, and full accreditation for 30 programs without a single failure.

Dr. Kadiri emphasized that the alumni body are not just observers but essential partners. He added that the current alumni president even sits on the school’s governing council. With more support, the rector believes Offa Poly will continue its rise before his five-year tenure wraps up.

Over 50 schools are expected and preparations stretch across both of the school’s campuses. From sports facilities to hostels and medical support, Offa Poly has left no stone unturned. The Rector has also made it clear that the event isn’t just about medals but about building connections, celebrating differences, and giving young athletes a platform to shine.
