Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala announced her arrival in Saudi Arabia in style, scoring on her debut to help Al Hilal edge Al-Qadsiah 4–3 in a thrilling league encounter.
The 30-year-old, who joined from Bay FC after just one season in the United States, was handed a starting spot by coach José Ángel Herrera, and she repaid that faith with a decisive second-half strike.
Al Hilal opened the scoring on 30 minutes through Al-Bandari Mobarak, who doubled the advantage six minutes later. But Al-Qadsiah fought back, pulling one back in the 44th minute before completing the comeback shortly after the restart.
Oshoala restored Hilal’s lead from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute, calmly converting to mark her first goal for the club. Portuguese forward Jessica Silva then made it 4–2, before Qadsiah pulled another goal back to set up a tense finale.
The win sees Oshoala off to a flying start in Saudi Arabia, as she looks to spearhead Hilal’s push for improvement on last season’s fifth-place
finish.
