Ahead of the quest for the Super Falcons' 10th WAFCON title, former star Rita Chikwelu has expressed her displeasure about the treatment of players, and as such, shown disbelief in the possibility of winning the 2025 Women's African Cup of Nations.
"We trained in stone, even in the Goal project, the Super Falcons trained.
After training, we have a lot of injuries.
Nobody wants to sacrifice that anymore, that's the truth. Instead, everyone would say I don't want to play again, I just want to retire from the national team because you don't want to injure yourself. After that, there is no support. Nobody even asks how you are feeling or how the injury was, you just go back to your club and the club takes responsibility for the injury you sustained from the national team." She said at the "Ladies in Sports International" Conference.
"This Nations Cup, only a miracle can make us win". She concluded.
Recall that Rita made her debut for the Super Falcons in 2007, and was part of the WAFCON winning team in 2016 and 2018.
