The curtain will be drawn on the 2024/25 NWFL Premiership regular season this Wednesday, April 30, as Gameweek 14 brings with it decisive storylines, farewell fixtures, and a gripping battle for the last Championship Playoffs ticket.
With Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and Remo Stars Ladies already confirmed for the Super Six, all eyes now turn to Group B, where Naija Ratels and FC Robo Queens enter the final day locked in a straight shootout for the sixth and final spot in the title playoffs.
Naija Ratels are ahead with 22 points, but the Robo Queens aren't far behind with 19 points. Ratels also hold the edge on goal difference (+7 vs +6), setting up a dramatic finale.
The Decisive Fixtures: All Eyes on Abuja and Lagos
Naija Ratels host league leaders Bayelsa Queens in Abuja, knowing that if they can avoid defeat they are guaranteed to be in Ikenne. But that’s no easy task against the unbeaten Bayelsa side looking to close the season strong.
Meanwhile, FC Robo Queens face Delta Queens at home in Lagos but in stark contrast, the Lagos-based side must win and hope Bayelsa do them a favour in Abuja.
A single point or even goals conceded could determine who finishes top three or ends up heartbroken.
Group A: A Final Flourish Before the Big Stage
In Group A, the top four spots are already locked, but there’s pride and preparation on the line as:
Edo Queens face bottom-placed Confluence Queens in Benin
Remo Stars Ladies round off their fairytale regular season at home to Dannaz Ladies
Nasarawa Amazons travel to Owerri to face Heartland Queens
Abia Angels, out of the playoff race, visit Ekiti Queens
Though the fates are sealed, expect intensity as teams use this final matchday to tune up ahead of the playoffs—or sign off their season in style.
Group B Undercards and Safe Landings
Elsewhere, Rivers Angels will host Benue Queens, while Adamawa Queens welcome Ibom Angels. Though both Benue and Confluence Queens (in Group A) were bottom in their groups for most of the season, there will be no relegation this year, according to the NWFL’s official directive—offering clubs room to rebuild without the immediate fear of the drop.
Ikenne to Host the Super Six
Where Next? :While the regular season wraps, the league is already preparing for its showpiece event—the Championship Playoffs. Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, has been announced as the host of the 2025 NWFL Premiership Super Six Tournament, marking a return to the South West for the first time since 2021.
The tournament will be held at the Remo Stars Stadium from Thursday, May 8 to Sunday, May 17, featuring the six best teams in a round-robin format to determine the national champions.
Until then, we buckle in for Gameweek 14 and find out which team between Naija Ratels and FC Robo Queens will join the five already-bound for Ikenne.
