Womens-FootballNWFLfeatured

Just as we predicted in our preview, the twelfth round of the 2023/24 NWFL Premiership regular season brought goals, twists, and a touch of magic, as the race for Super Six spots intensified. From Benin to Owerri, from Port Harcourt to Numan, clubs battled not just for points but for pride, progression, and a place among the elite. Here's how it all played out:

Heartland Queens 1-1 Remo Stars Ladies

Owerri Draw Leaves RSL in a Tussle

Remo Stars Ladies dropped points again, but Bolaji Olamide rose to the moment. Her 88th-minute equalizer canceled out Onyinyechi Kalu’s first-half opener for Heartland, snapping a four-game scoring drought. With the strike, Bolaji joins Gift Monday atop the goalscoring charts—a timely reminder of her class as the Super Six beckons.

Confluence Queens 0-1 Abia Angels

Onajite Strikes Late in Ayingba

Winner Onajite lived up to her name, netting in the 88th minute to seal a vital win for Abia Angels away from home. The visitors keep their Super Six dream alive with another gritty performance, while Confluence Queens remain rooted to the bottom.

Edo Queens 3-1 Dannaz Ladies

Unstoppable in Benin

Mary Anjor bagged a brace and Chioma Moses added a third as Edo Queens eased past Dannaz Ladies to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games. Rosemary Okorie pulled one back for Dannaz, but Edo’s march remains relentless—they're now guaranteed group winners.

Ekiti Queens 2-2 Nasarawa Amazons

A Zainab Show, But Points Shared in Ibadan

Zainab Ismail lit up Lekan Salami with a quickfire double to flip the script after Nasarawa's early lead through Jenat Akekoromowei. But Hembafan Ayatsea’s composed finish salvaged a point for the Solid Babes, who remain in the top three but now feel Abia Angels breathing down their neck.

Group B

Rivers Angels 3-0 Delta Queens – Mary Moses’ Hat-Trick of Dreams

In Port Harcourt, Mary Moses turned executioner, netting a sublime hat-trick. Her goals in 16th, 70th and 73rd minutes ensured Rivers Angels blew past Delta Queens. Already Super Six-bound, Rivers are making a strong case for the title chase with a statement win.

Adamawa Queens 1-1 Bayelsa Queens

Spoils Shared in Numan

Delight Isaac opened the scoring early for Bayelsa, but Katon Waken’s second-half strike ensured the Prosperity Girls dropped points for only the third time this season. Still unbeaten, Bayelsa inch forward while Adamawa earn a rare point.

Benue Queens 1-0 Ibom Angels

Finally, A Win in Lafia

In our preview, we adjudged this a 50-50 tie where Benue Queens could grab all the headlines—we were right! Joy Ikyagh’s 57th-minute winner sparked scenes of relief as Benue Queens claimed their first victory of the campaign. The debutants may not make the playoffs, but their maiden win will be savored.

Naija Ratels 1-0 FC Robo Queens

Bankole Strikes Again

Sofiat Bankole fired home in the 10th minute to hand Naija Ratels a vital win over Robo Queens, shaking up the Super Six race. It’s back-to-back big wins for the Abuja side, while Robo, who would have hoped to seal a championship playoff spot today, now risk slipping out of the top three with Ratels hot on their heels.

Looking ahead, we're sure gameweek 13 will be a war of nerves, numbers, and aj even narrower margins.
