The second leg of the Supremacy Cup quarterfinals wrapped up on Wednesday, and with it came stories of redemption, heartbreak, and heavy punches from the big boys. From the heat of the quarterfinals, the thinkers fell and the doers survived in the OAU Supremacy Cup. The lineup says everything: one defending champion, one dark horse, one perennial powerhouse, and one team that continues to surprise.
Here’s how it all went down:
Computer Run Philosophy Out of Ideas (Agg: 5-0)
Philosophy came into this one with hope, but Computer Science wasn’t here to discuss theory. They executed—again.
After winning the first leg 3-0, CSC made sure there was no miracle comeback, adding two more goals in the second leg to complete a 5-0 aggregate demolition. It was clean, calculated and clinical. CSC marches into the semifinals yet to concede in the knockout rounds.
Mathematics Solve the Civil Equation (Agg: 1-0)
It was tense. It was technical. And in the end, it was one moment that decided it. Mathematics held their nerve after a 1-0 second-leg win, knocking Civil Engineering out to once again book a place in the supremacy cup semis.
Civil, whom many had tipped as tie favorites, just couldn’t find the breakthrough. Mathematics returns to the semifinal stage with quiet confidence—they've been here before.
Business Admin Hold Their Nerve Against ASE (Agg: 2-2)
Bus Admin win on pens
This one had everything. Goals, swings, pressure, and eventually, spot kicks. ASE and Business Admin couldn’t be separated across both legs. A 2-2 draw set up the shootout, where Bus Admin showed steel nerves to advance. ASE walk away with heads held high, but Business Admin are the ones who live to fight another day.
Accounting Outlast Elect/Elect (Agg: 2-1)
It was never going to be easy. Elect/Elect had pace and punch, but Accounting had experience—and that made all the difference. After missing a chance from the spot in the first leg, the unforgiving nature of these kinds of ties took its toll on the tech side.
Accounting held firm and edged the second 1-0. Both teams shared the spoils in the first leg but it was the defending champions who had real stuff left in them, responding with enough to go through 2-1 on aggregate. They now head into a blockbuster semifinal with Computer Science.
