SNAPPED STREAKS AND ROARING DREAMS

Gameweek 11 in the NWFL truly delivered memories.

Gameweek 11 brought a flurry of goals, key shake-ups, and a couple of confirmations across the two NWFL Premiership groups. Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens both punched their tickets to the championship playoffs with strong wins. Benue Queens’ survival hangs on a thread as their relegation was almost mathematically sealed. Elsewhere, Rivers Angels’ unbeaten run came to a screeching halt in Lagos, while Ekiti Queens finally picked up their first point on the road.

Here are key talking points from GW11

Robo Flip The Script

FC Robo Queens turned up the heat at home, slamming three past a formerly unbeaten Rivers Angels side. It wasn’t just a win—it was a statement. Kemi Adegbuyi, Mariam Yahaya and Opeyemi Ajakaye were instrumental to the win in Lagos. With this result, the Lagos Landladies have now gained a three-point lead on Naija Ratels in the battle for the third playoff spot with just three rounds to go.

Edo Seals the Deal

Kafayat Mafisere’s early goal was all Edo Queens needed in Ikenne. With 29 points and no loss all season, they’ve officially booked a seat at the playoffs table. They have settled their qualification without going behind at any point in the season—an impressive run of 990 minutes without going behind.

Bayelsa Cruises, Benue Crashes

Harmony John and Alaba Olabiyi were the weapons fashioned against Benue Queens in Yenagoa. Benue Queens, who could have confirmed relegation today, still sit six points adrift of Adamawa Queens, who dropped crucial points today in Asaba but this is not looking exactly like a blessing. For climbing out with three games left, Benue has to win most of their remaining games—something they have struggled with all season.

Ekiti Breaks the Curse

One point on the road might not sound like much, but for Ekiti Queens, it’s their first in the NWFL outside their home turf. Rashidat Salau's 33rd-minute opener set the Queens on course but Augusta Chukwuma's quick equalizer ensured a share of the spoils against Dannaz Ladies.

Nasarawa in Fifth Gear

The Amazons tore through Confluence Queens like a hot knife through butter, with Jenat Akekeromowei bagging a first-half hat-trick. They're now third and looking like they've cemented the third qualification spot in Group A with just three games to go.

Abia Holds the Line

A slim 1-0 win against Heartland keeps Abia Angels in the hunt for a playoff spot, though they'll need results to swing their way in the coming weeks if they are to by any means overtake Nasarawa Amazons. Regardless of what happens in the coming weeks, this is a season Coach Adanna Nwaneri and her ambitious Abia side can be proud of.

Delta Thump Adamawa

Priscilla Omeje found the net straight from kickoff, giving Delta Queens a lead they never relinquished. While Adamawa Queens pressed for a response, the hosts held firm with a well-drilled backline and solid game management. The win lifts Delta to 14 points, keeping them within touching distance of the top three. For Adamawa, the road gets bumpier—just three games left to beat the drop, and the clock is ticking.

Ibom Spoil Ratels Party

Ibom Angels pulled off a spirited comeback to stun Naija Ratels in Uyo, bagging their fourth win of the season and leaping right back into the Group B playoff conversation. The visitors had a dream start when Sofiat Bankole broke the deadlock in the 30th minute but Ibom Angels weren’t rattled. Rather, they grew into the game and found their equalizer through Chioma Ashiegbu shortly after the hour mark. Six minutes later, Abigail Awak turned the game on its head to hand the hosts all three points.
