The Supremacy Cup kicks off tomorrow, and the battle for campus football dominance is about to begin. With teams making key transfers and strengthening their squads, predicting a winner is no easy task. Popular sports pundit, OAUSF Gold medalist and former EDM Coach, Adebayo Adedolapo (VDP), shared his thoughts on the teams ahead of kickoff.
CSC Are The Team To Beat
VDP sees Computer Science (CSC) as a team to beat. "They will ball," he said confidently. "I even see them in the semifinals." With a strong squad packed with technical ability and experience, CSC stands out as one of the top favorites.
Mathematics and Accounting in Trouble?
While some teams look set for a deep run, others might struggle. VDP is not convinced about Mathematics. "I don’t see them going far. They might not even make it past the group stage." Defending champions, Accounting, could also face difficulties. "They might disappoint, and that would be a big talking point," he added.
What About ESM?
As a graduate of Estate Management (ESM), VDP was asked about his department’s chances. He was uncertain. "They have made some really quality additions, but the state of the squad still leaves a lot to question." He listed concerns like player availability, commitment, team cohesion, leadership, and management. "These things matter, and right now, I don’t know where ESM stands."
Per state of the squad, he also shares in the sentiment that Coaches would matter most in this edition as team synergy is important. One might even wonder how this touchline factor might affect Accounting given the absence of Modric. Departments like ASE and Microbiology might also benefit from a strong touchline presence but it all waits to unfold tomorrow.
Before we get into VDP predictions about who the potential semifinalists are, here's the Groupings for the 2025 OAU Supremacy Cup:

Who Makes the Semifinals?
According to VDP, if teams avoid each other in the knockout rounds, his expected semifinalists are:
CSC: "it's easy for me to say I see CSC as top favorites; they have the best squad in individuality, technicality and experience."
ASE: "Maybe they finally break the curse this year."
A Surprise Package: "One unexpected team will make it, maybe Microbiology or Philosophy."
VDP Expects a Tournament Full of Surprises
While VDP refused to speak about the other teams, he is confident of one thing. He said: "one thing is certain: we are in for a showdown." The Supremacy Cup is unpredictable, and anything can happen. With new transfer rules, strong teams, and the hunger to win, this edition promises drama, shocks, and standout performances. The stage is set. Who will rise above the rest?
