"We will play our game" Madugu confident ahead of WAFCON Qualifier vs Benin Republic

Nigeria's Super Falcons face Benin Republic in their qualifications of the 2026 Women's African Cup of Nations, and head coach Justin Madugu has stated he has the team to make Nigeria proud, and seal the ticket.

The Super Falcons have qualified for all editions of the Women's African Cup of Nations and are the record winners with 10 titles, and they would be looking to extend this record by winning the 11th.

Speaking to the NFF Media ahead of the game, Madugu said;

“On Friday, we will go out and play our game and seek the goals that will put us in a good stead ahead of the return leg.”

The Super Falcons will be without the services of attacking midfielder Jennifer Echegini due to a hamstring injury, and here's what Madugu has to say.

“We have a team that will go out there and make us proud. Yes, we would have loved to have Jennifer (Echegini) but we do not and we can only pray for her to recover quickly."

There is however still a squad full of attacking talent such as Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okworonkwo, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Folashade Ijamilusi, Asisat Oshoala and the new call-up, Joy Omewa who could all prove deadly against Benin Republic.

Kick-off is 4PM Nigerian time at the Stade de Kégué in Lome, Togo.
