Folashade Oluwafemiayo has broken her own world record in the women's over 86kg category as she secured gold at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
The Nigerian star lifted a massive 168kg on Thursday, 16 October 2025, surpassing her previous benchmark of 167kg, which she set during her gold-medal run at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The sensational performance secured the 40-year-old athlete her fourth consecutive World Championship title, cementing her status as the dominant force in the heavyweight division.
Record-Breaking Career Continues
Oluwafemiayo's successful lift of 168kg came on the fifth day of the competition in the Egyptian capital, ensuring the gold medal for Team Nigeria and adding to her impressive career tally, which also includes two Paralympic gold medals.
The World Para Powerlifting Championships in Cairo holds historical significance as the first edition of the event to be hosted on the African continent.
The silver medal in the event went to China's Wenjun Zhu, while Iran's Nikoo Rozbahani claimed the bronze.
