It was a dramatic end at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano after Shooting Stars snatched a late draw against the Northern side away from home.
The game started on a bright note, as the home side took the advantage early in the game, courtesy of a brilliant strike from Mustapha Jibrin in the 8th minute.
Shooting Stars had spells of possession in the first half, with intricate passing and creating chances, but struggling to find the target.
In the second half, the warriors from Oluyole continued from where they left off, but the Pillars defense held on tight.

Kano Pillars felt they should have gotten a penalty in the second half, after a defender was brought down after minimal contact, but the referee waved it off, but awarded a yellow.
Shooting Stars were handed a late freekick in the 4th minute of added time after the 90’, and Adams Mustapha ‘Agba’ stepped up and hit an absolute screamer beyond the reach of Abuchi Okeke in goal for Kano Pillars, for Shooting Stars’ equalizer.
In the closing stages, Kano Pillars thought they had regained the lead after a defence splitting pass and a fine finish, but the assistant referee had his flag raised for offside. It was later gathered as per reports from Kano, that the referee had blown for full-time.
However, this did not go down well with supporters of the ‘Sai Masu Gida’, as they intruded the pitch, and attacked the match officials and Shooting Stars players with sticks and other harmful objects, causing all to flee for their dear lives, with players suffering injuries.

It took the intervention of the ‘Operation Burst’ for Shooting Stars players and officials to be escorted from the Sani Abacha Stadium, and to their hotels.
Former Super Eagles captain who is Kano Pillars’ General manager, Ahmed Musa took full responsibility for the incident, and apologized on behalf of the irate fans.
After the game, the NPFL board released a ‘preliminary statement’ to inform the general public that they are monitoring the situation, and would take action soonest, action which has now been taken, less than 24 hours after the incident.
In a letter addressed to the Kano Pillars management, the NPFL board imposed stringent sanctions including a 3 points deduction, #9.5m in fines, and a 10-match ban from the Sani Abacha Stadium until further notice.
All sanctions here -
1. A fine of One Million Naira (₦1 ,000,000.00) for failure to provide adequate and effective security.
2. A fine of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000.00) for throwing of dangerous objects towards the field of play and match officials.
3. A fine of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000.00) for failure to ensure the pro per conduct of your supporters.
4. A fine of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000.00) for misconduct capable of bringing the game to disrepute.
5. A fine of Two million Naira (₦2,000,000.00) for assaulting the away team players and match officials.
6. A fine of Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000.00) as compensatory cost of treatment and damages inflicted on the away team players and officials.
7. A fine of one million five hundred thousand Naira (₦1,500,000.00) as compensatory damages of two hundred and fifty thousand Naira each to the match officials.
8. An order deducting 3 points 3 goals from accrued points of Kano Pillars FC for assaults on the match officials.
9. An order closing the Sani Abacha Stadium indefinitely, to Kano Pillars FC, for the rest of the season, or for a minimum of ten home games until you can prove that such ugly incidence will not occur again.
Meanwhile, Kano Pillars will now play their home games in Katsina.
10.An order directing the club to produce those culprits who perpetrated the invasion of the restricted areas and to show proof of their prosecution accordingly, and an order to implement more effective match day security framework and crowd control measures,details of which must be submitted to the NPFL within seven (7) working days of the date of this notice.
