Football season is back, and in Ile-Ife, that means one thing: the ISCO Sports League (ISL) is kicking off again. But guess what? This time, it’s bigger, bolder, and more exciting than ever.
Over the past few years, ISL has become one of the most talked-about grassroots football tournaments in Osun State. With an intense home-and-away format, passionate fans, and a growing reputation for showcasing raw talent, ISL is creating a proper football culture, one match at a time.
The Champions Are Back, but the Chase Is On
OAU Giants have dominated the ISL story so far; back-to-back champions and are currently the team to beat. But if there’s one team that’s come close, it’s Jungle Boys FC. Twice, they’ve finished second. Twice, they’ve come painfully close.
Could this be the season Jungle Boys finally take the crown? Or will OAU Giants defend their title and cement their legacy? That rivalry alone is reason enough to watch.
Three New Teams, Seven Total
This season will feature seven teams, and for the first time, we’re welcoming three new teams into the mix. That changes everything; new players, new tactics, new rivalries, and lots of unpredictability.
Meet the 2024/25 ISL Lineup:
OAU Giants
Jungle Boys FC
Classic Royals FC
Marlinz Football Academy
Aced Kings FC (New)
Sabo Strikers FC (New)
Besthope Football Academy (New)

Every single team has something to prove. And this season, there are no “easy matches.”
However, it’s not just the football that’s growing; the ISL itself is evolving. The ISL now has a new sponsor, Elpher Group. Also, AlliNews Nigeria is on board as the official media and data partner. Expect in-depth coverage, player features, matchday stats, and more visibility for the players.
This means the ISL is no longer just a campus affair; it’s starting to feel like a semi-professional setup, and that’s exactly what grassroots football in Nigeria needs.
Why the ISL Matters
Yes, there’s a trophy to be won, but the bigger goal is long-term impact. The ISL is helping to build a sustainable football ecosystem where young talent is nurtured, where teams grow in professionalism, and where fans feel a real connection to their local clubs.
Kickoff for the 2024/2025 season is set for July 26, 2024, and we just can’t wait!
