"I had a ten year plan" Former Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum reveals blue print he had for Super Falcons, major obstacles

Randy Waldrum, former head coach of Nigeria's Super Falcons has come out to give insights into the long term plans he had for Nigerian women's football, and the challenges he faced.

Waldrum took charge of the senior female national team in October, 2020, leading the team to the Women's World Cup in 2023, and the Paris Olympics in 2024, for the first time in 16 years.

Despite all of these, Waldrum had to leave his role in 2024, as his wife, Dianna Waldrum had to go under the knife.

Speaking on his long-term plan for the Falcons, he said;

"There's so much potential to do great things on both the men and women's side in Nigeria, and my hope when I took the job was that I could bring some new ideas and thought process, especially with our women being the best in the World here in the United States"

“I thought I could bring some of the organizational ideas, the long-term planning. I had developed a ten-year plan for Nigeria, for youth football and how it would translate into winning a World Cup within the next ten years and I hoped I could influence it that way because I knew they had great players."

“That's why I took on the project, but I enjoyed my four years there. I also had some difficult time there, but we had a lot of great success, but I loved my time there.” He said to EaglesTracker. /https://youtu.be/oNpgEsSVcHw?si=fe6u3IdtXrU16s26

However, Waldrum was unable to carry out his plans as a result of issues inherent, and the fact that he had to resign in 2024 to take care of his ailing wife that needed surgery.
